Q- And does it bother you?
A- Not at all. Up to this point, all I want is to see people going to the theatre and watch the film so they can’t get it out of their heads afterwards.

Q- I believe you were the school soloist...
A- Yes. I’d sing all the time, mass in Latin, motets, etc. I’d sing in every religious act as well as in festive days. I guess I was quite good at it. The priests even recorded some of my songs and played them in church to bring more parishioners. I remember the church full. I’d do anything to get those tapes back, but I don’t think they exist any longer. Ceremonies is what I enjoyed the most in my school days. I consider myself agnostic, but find catholic liturgy absolutely wonderful, fascinating and touching. It’s been a long time since I last attended mass, though. I don’t know what it’s like these days.

Q- Does Father Manolo exist?
A- Yes, as a character.

Q- But, is he an actual person?
A- No. It’s made up, even though I did find inspiration for some sequences in my school priests.

Q- What sequences in particular?
A- The episodes in the river and the sacristy.

Q- Are those actual episodes?!
A- I was told about it by two mates. When you are in a boarding school you end up learning about everything.

Q- Imagine the persons behind F. Manolo live today, are you afraid of their reaction towards yourself?
A- That would be like denouncing themselves... I’m not trying to bother them. They must be pretty old now –I’d rather not have them see the film, they can definitely spare the experience.
